"I started femme .45 because I believe that women should have all the resources that men do when it comes to shooting... Hence femme .45: the gun girls glamour..."
-Miss Mary Mac 10
I started femme .45 because
my concealment purse looks like a fanny pack. I may have some grays but I still have style and I hope to share that style with women shooters everywhere.
-Lady Lead
Men aren't the only ones
who can shoot guns. I believe femme .45 will level the playing field.
-Goldie Glox
I love femme .45 because I like to wear silver ballet flats, glitter nail polish and hoop earrings to the range!!!

I'm so sick of people looking at
me like I'm a killer when I tell them I carry.. I haven't even had a traffic violation in years... femme .45 is my forum to destroy that negative stigma...

to empower women...
to stand up for themselves - NO MATTER WHAT. Furthermore, we urge women shooters to be proud of themselves and not hide their utilization of the second amendment no matter what stigma it carries.
C'mon gals - we've come along way, but there's still more to go.
to educate women...
on all things gun. Safety, laws, and anything and everything else.
Furthermore, we'd like explain to the masses that guns, in the right hands, are not a bad thing at all.
to defend our rights...
to protect ourselves, our families, our homes, and our friends. Also, to protect the right to shoot guns as a sport. We seek to break the negative stigma that surrounds guns and show how the positives outweigh the negatives. To level the "pistol playing field" between men and women - it's neither cute, hot nor butch that we shoot.
........Okay maybe it's hot ;)
femme.45 = pistol pop culture...
We seek to be the ultimate source of ALL things pistol pop culture.

Barbara Sheehan
On Feb. 18,2008, Barbara Sheehan, a school secretary, pumped 11 bullets into her husband, a retired NYPD sergeant. The incident occurred in their Howard Beach home in Queens, NY. Using his own guns, a Glock and a .35 caliber pistol, she ended her abusers life and a marriage of 24 years. If convicted, she faces up to 25 years in prison.
Sheehan relates a horrifying tale of abuse at the hands of her husband. She tried to leave her husband many times but he vowed to hunt her down and kill her and the children.
After being punched, kicked, beaten and threatened with a gun, Barbara Sheehan snapped. In a moment it happened. The gun was there. She grabbed it and repeatedly shot him.
Twenty-three year old Jennifer Sheehan stated in an Oprah interview: "Im glad my father is gone. No part of me misses him. My life is 150% better!"
What steps can you take to avoid this type of tragic ending?
1. Realize that you are not responsible for your partners behavior.
2. Leave at the first signs of abuse.
3. Learn how to protect and defend yourself.
4. Get help.

Shannon Booker
I was afraid to stay and afraid to go. Shannon Booker had been abused by her boyfriend for years. She was beaten, struck over the head, dragged in the street and had her jaw fractured. She had grown up in foster care and was now alone, with two children. She was unable to control her situation. Shannon was helpless, with nowhere to go. So, she stayed.
On March 30, 1988, Shannon fled to a friends house after another extremely abusive episode. Her boyfriend, Jose, called and begged her to come home. She relented, but when she entered her front door, she was greeted by a punch in the face. She was again beaten and she retreated to the bedroom.
Jose placed his .357 Magnum in the drawer. When he left the room, Shannon put it under the mattress. He returned and resumed the beating and started to choke her. Shannon grabbed the gun and fired! Jose had been shot eight times. Shannon was charged with first degree murder. She plead guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to 8 - 15 years.
Shannon Booker is one of the Farmingham Eight; eight women who fought for freedom after being sentenced to lengthy prison terms for killing their abusers. After many court battles, Shannon finally won and was paroled but had spent six years in prison. She now works with womens groups to encourage victims to get help.
Booker says, Theres not a day that I dont think about him part of me still loves him. The cases of the Farmingham Eight have brought about important changes in the way the justice system treats victims of domestic violence.

farrah fawcett (2 February 1947 - 25 June 09)
I realize that we're all inundated with tributes to all of the icons we lost over the past week. But I couldn't launch this magazine without saying a few words about Farrah Fawcett .
Farrah's rise to stardom began in the late 60s when she worked on commercials. In March of 1976, she joined Jaclyn Smith and Kate Jackson in a movie of the week called "Charlie's Angels".
The show was picked up the following fall and Farrah won our hearts as the gun totin' private detective, Jill Munroe.
She was an instant pop icon and will forever be a symbol of power, respect, and strength.
In loving memory...
Farrah Fawcett..

...the gals who paved the way...
Go ahead and scrapbook your trip to the range... and don't hide it when you have dinner parties....
It's okay to outshoot your man... every time.
...but you should also let him "win" in front of his friends a few times... he'll still know you're superior ;)
Don't be afraid to miss your target every once in a while...whatever target it may be.
Don't be afraid to wear your "tree hugger" shirt with an NRA sticker on your bumper.

stop! look! listen!
Self-defense is protecting yourself from harm, by any means necessary. This ranges from using preventative measures to using a weapon. Within this range are several things that can be done to keep yourself safe. Let’s start with prevention.
The first line of defense in this “war ground” we call our every day life is trying to prevent bad things from happening. Awareness is the key. Remember this warning; stop, look and listen. To be safe we need to be aware of our surroundings. This applies not only if you are walking down a dark, deserted street, (…although I have no idea why you would do that!) but to any situation. It doesn’t matter if you are at home, in your car, on the job or just out for some fun. Always be aware of who is nearby, where are the exits, what are your surroundings. Stop. Take a look around. Listen for any danger signs.
[next]
1. Take security precautions. Be sure doors and windows have good locks. Make sure doors and windows are not easily accessible to unwanted entrants.
2. Use proper lighting. Have various lights on sensors and timers to make it seem as though someone is home even if you’ve gone away. Have outdoor lighting.
3. Clear shrubs and other large plants away from your house or around your driveway so that there are not areas where someone could conceal himself.
4. Don’t open the door to strangers.
5. Have neighbors be on the watch, especially if you plan to take a vacation.
6. Have emergency telephone numbers available… just memorize them!
7. Plan ahead. Rehearse some possible situations and think about how you would react, what you would do.
1. Use common sense. Don’t put yourself in a vulnerable position or place. If it doesn’t look safe, don’t go there. If you don’t know the person, don’t go to an isolated place with him or her.
2. Keep car doors locked. Just being stopped at a traffic light gives a person time to hop in your car and do you harm.
3. Listen to your inner-voice. If you feel uneasy, change your plans. This just might help you to avoid a potentially dangerous situation.
